Recent downtime

January 7th, 2010

There are a few regular visitors to twattering.co.uk and even fewer readers of this blog so you’re in an exclusive group when I say this post is for you.

You will have noticed that both twattering.co.uk and this blog have been down for the last few weeks but now it’s back up. In short the web server crapped itself and needed to be rebuilt.

That is all.

Facebook application is launched

March 18th, 2009

It’s been promised for a while and here it is http://apps.facebook.com/twattering the twattering application on Facebook.

You can now twatter your friends’ status updates even if you’re feeling too lazy to copy and paste, don’t say we don’t love you enough.

Additionally all of the other goodies promised have been launched, increased comment field length, twatter voting plus a bunch of other little fixes that no one will probably notice or care about.

Feedback is always welcome, feel free to leave a comment below letting us know how you’re getting on with it.

100th user registration!

March 16th, 2009

I promised myself I would post when we received 100 user registrations and here it is. I’m celebrating with a cherry coke.

One other thing to mention is that the next version of twattering is due very soon indeed, just a little tweaking of the Facebook application to finish it off. Some of the features coming include the new voting ability, the aforementioned Facebook application, increased comment field length and a slight redesign to support these new features (don’t worry though it’s nothing like as drastic as Facebook which seems to breed utter contempt every time it moves everything slightly to the left or right)

Comment field length

February 27th, 2009

We’ve had a few mentions that the comment field isn’t long enough so coming very soon we will increase the length limit on the comment field from its current 400 characters to 65535 characters. Hopefully that will be more than enough to get your point across in future.

Keep your eye on the blog for an update when this feature goes live.

Ability to edit/remove your own comments

February 23rd, 2009

Hi all,

We’ve had a couple of people ask about adding the ability to edit your own comments for when there’s been a spelling mistake or some such. I also presume, from some of the double postings, that the ability to delete your own comments would be nice too.

Right now we’re a little busy coding the new voting functionality and Facebook application for quick twatter postings but rest assured we will add this functionality eventually.

For the time being please have a quick check through your comments before hitting the post button, bit of a low-tech fix for now I’m afraid.

Hi twatterers!

February 19th, 2009

Hey all you lovely people that are currently “getting” twattering, believe it or not we’ve had comments from people that don’t understand what we’re trying to do here. I think they’re collectively referred to as twats.

Just wanted to post something quickly to let you know of some of the things we’re currently discussing and implementing soon based on some of your feedback.

  1. First and foremost we’ll be adding the ability to rate up and down individual twatters which will create a “top ten” twatters.
  2. Facebook application and some kind of integration with twitter to allow you to very quickly “twatter” people. We’re thinking of a Facebook application that will list all your friends’ current status updates with a button beside each one that will allow you to “twatter this”. Optionally you can tell the person you’ve twattered with a Facebook notification that people are currently debating the merits of their status update on http://twattering.co.uk.
  3. Ability to order the twatters by date (as they are currently) and also by most recently commented on.
  4. Once logged in a user should be able to see a list of all their own twatters.

Additionally we’d be happy to hear any suggestions you might have for new features and categories. We’ll discuss them and make sure the best ideas are implemented as soon as possible.

Finally, please carry on twattering, it’s good for the soul (probably) and at the very least is fucking hilarious (generally).
